The Ravens and a pair of underdogs highlight the best bets of Week 2.

The early part of the NFL season is always tough to forecast and 2020 was no exception. Big underdogs like Jacksonville and Washington scored massive upsets while betting the over was a highly successful strategy as the scoreboards lit up like Christmas trees in Week 1.

The good news here is that we now have a week worth of information on our hands to help inform betting decisions. The problem comes in that it is just one week, so oddsmakers tend to overreact to what we have seen and lines can end up looking wacky. Let's do our best to sort through the madness and layout the five best bets of the week, with all lines coming courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

5. Week 2 Best Bets: Panthers-Buccaneers Over 49.5 Points

The over was a tremendous value play in Week 1, hitting nine times in 14 contests entering Monday night. Part of that is likely due to the unconventional offseason with limited practice time and the lack of hitting periods making it easier for offenses to get out of the gate fast.

Let's stick with the over trend here and pick a game that has a great chance to become a shootout in Tampa Bay. The Carolina Panthers found themselves in a barn burner in Week 1, losing 34-30 to the Las Vegas Raiders, and they bring with them an offense filled with playmakers and a defense that has a ton of new pieces trying to fit together.

Nfl score predictions

This game is also huge for the Buccaneers, who saw Tom Brady look sluggish in his Tampa Bay debut, but they still managed to score 23 points on a good New Orleans Saints' defense. They should take advantage of Carolina's defensive struggles, contributing to a hearty offensive feast that will push this total past 49.5 points easily.

4. Week 2 Best Bets: Cincinnati Bengals +5.5

The Joe Burrow era began with a loss for the Bengals but they were certainly competitive in the game. The new-look defense held the Los Angeles Chargers to just 16 points, giving Burrow a chance to lead a game-winning drive late in the game.

Burrow, who rushed for a touchdown and completed 23 of his 36 passes for 193 yards, got Cincinnati in position to kick a game-tying field goal in the final seconds. Randy Bullock missed a 31-yard attempt, but it doesn't diminish the fact that Burrow flashed some serious potential in his first game as a pro.

Cincinnati has a short week as they head to Cleveland to take on the Browns on Thursday night. Cleveland was simply abysmal in Week 1, getting absolutely hammered by the Baltimore Ravens, yet have been established as 5.5-point favorites by the oddsmakers.

There is no way that you can look at the performance of those two teams on Sunday and declare that the Browns are significantly better than the Bengals. If you add in the fact that the short week further levels the playing field and that there are no fans in the building it would seem like the line should be much closer than it is.

Getting 5.5 points with Cincinnati is a huge win and they already played a close football game in Week 1. Take the points with the Bengals as they look to keep things close with the Browns on Thursday.

3. Week 2 Best Bets: Miami Dolphins +5.5

Another team that didn't get a victory in Week 1, the Dolphins were in their game with the New England Patriots most of the way. New England pulled away at the end with a 21-11 win, but Miami was able to hang around despite three costly interceptions from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The Dolphins will go back to Fitzpatrick in Week 2 for their home opener, one that will have fans in the building to create at least some form of home-field advantage. The other good news for the Dolphins is that their opponent is the Buffalo Bills, a team that was a bit sloppy in their win over the New York Jets.

Josh Allen turned the football over twice against the Jets and missed receivers on several occasions, including an endzone overthrow that cost the Bills six points. Rookie kicker Tyler Bass also missed a pair of field goals, which isn't ideal, to say the least.

The Jets were unable to capitalize on those mistakes, but Miami should be able to as well. The Dolphins are also significant home underdogs after the oddsmakers established the Bills as 5.5-point favorites. Given how the two teams played on Sunday it would be wise to take all of those points with the home team.

2. Week 2 Best Bets: Baltimore Ravens -6.5

The Ravens were one of the biggest winners in Week 1 with how dominant they looked. Fresh off a disappointing playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans, Baltimore got back to crushing opponents with an effortless smackdown of the Cleveland Browns.

Nfl best bets week 2 2019

Lamar Jackson looked even better than he did in his MVP campaign, which shouldn't be possible, but he was great through the air and on the ground at home. The Ravens' defense also completely smothered the Browns offense, forcing three turnovers and holding Cleveland to six points.

Baltimore hits the road this week as 6.5-point favorites against the Houston Texans, who have three extra days to prep for this game after losing in the kickoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. That game ended 34-20 but it wasn't even that close as the Chiefs dominated the contest from start to finish.

Betting on heavy road favorites isn't an easy sell, but putting faith in Jackson and the Ravens makes a ton of sense. Houston will have a very tough time defending him and this game could get ugly very early.

1. Week 2 Best Bets: Seattle Seahawks -4

Nfl Best Bets Week 2 2020

Seahawks' fans had to be thrilled that Pete Carroll finally let Russell Wilson cook in Atlanta. After plenty of complaining about Seattle's run-pass ratio, the Seahawks let Wilson air it out 35 times at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, where he completed 31 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns.

Best nfl parlay bets week 2

The end result was a comfortable victory over the Falcons, a popular sleeper pick at the start of the season. Seattle also saw new safety Jamal Adams make plenty of plays, racking up 12 tackles (including 2.5 tackles for loss) and a sack.

Next up for Seattle is a matchup with the New England Patriots, who kicked off the Cam Newton era with a 21-11 victory over the Dolphins. The Patriots dialed up plenty of designed runs for Newton, who had 15 carries for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns as part of a rush-heavy gameplan.

Running the ball 42 times won't be as successful against a Seattle defense that yielded just 3.4 yards per carry against the Falcons. The Seahawks are only favored by four at home, which is likely a sign of respect for the Patriots, but Seattle is a far better opponent than the Dolphins were. Lay the four points with confidence.
